One of the features of the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX motherboard that separates it from others is the new AI Suite II software bundle. An added bonus (according to ASUS) of not using the standard iron chokes is better antirust properties. The TUF Mosfets are an ideal choice because they are able to sustain the thermal shock between -65 degrees Celsius and 150 degrees Celsius! For those of us here in the United States that are accustomed to temperature in Fahrenheit that’s equivalent to ~85 degrees Fahrenheit to ~300 degrees Fahrenheit! The third piece of pie is the TUF Chokes instead of the standard iron chokes the TUF Chokes are comprised of various types of metal which will deliver up to 25% higher rated current as well as better emission of vibration noise. The TUF Caps are only part of the mix, though the ASUS TUF Mosfets are also part of the recipe. Among these components are the TUF Capacitors, the capacitors used on the Sabertooth 990FX are two and a half times more durable than the standard Japanese Solid Capacitors and 1.67 times more durable than top graded polymer tantalum HI-C capacitors.

Currently the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX is available for $199.99 plus shipping. What, in, particular does that mean? Well, the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX as well as the other Sabertooth boards are all certified to military standards for durability. This particular series of motherboards goes through hell and back before it’s ready for consumer use. If you aren’t familiar with the TUF series, it’s an acronym for The Ultimate Force. just an idea.The ASUS Sabertooth 990FX is part of the TUF series of motherboards. I don't have any science\engineering to back this up either. The FX 8xxx series doesn't exactly sip power, so if it was drawing too heavily from one rail of the PSU when it should have been using more, it could have overloaded something if the PSU was either old, cheap or defective. The only other thing I can think of would be to try a different power supply. I've never seen anything like this happen with an Intel setup.
This is just anecdotal evidence but in recent years I've seen a few strange AMD failures where either the board was capable of killing the CPU due to defects\poor design or the CPU was capable of just plain killing itself from heat. Do you have another cpu to try?Īs weird as it sounds, I wouldn't rule this out. With the cpu led flashing I just have a hunch the cpu itself is damage when you run the system without the 8pin cpu power connector. Things tried reset cmos and remove battrey still nothing same situation. I was suprised it even worked that long but then after plugging it in, it will still not boot, cpu led is flashing and dram led is solid on no idea what to do.

So I was leaving for vacation and handed my pc over to a friend during transport the 8 pin cpu power popped out.Īnyways tried starting it without notice ing it out and it dint work for fora few attempts then it finally started once booted windows and was only ised for browsing for a an hour maybe then left idle after which there was a restart and over clocking failure message.Īfter restarting it did not post after fiddling with ram it worked and got into bios and changed settings I guided him to set all defaults and put ram allot default 2400mhz but forgot to tell him to change timing, after restart no post again after which he discovered the 8 pin not there Oo.
